How do I hang a growing collection?

Salon Hanging

Not enough wall space for your growing collection-consider "salon hanging". Hang your artwork from floor to ceiling as the galleries do or the way you may hang family photos. To accomplish this find a common element and mix another. For example, you may select pieces of the same style and mix media or frame choices. This way the selection will be purposeful and interesting.

How high above my couch should I hang my artwork

Proper Height To Hang Artwork

When hanging the artwork above a couch, it is suggested to position the artwork 8-10 inches above the furniture. People frequently hang these artworks too high. Expert recommendation is to place the artwork just lower than center between the ceiling and the top of the couch, providing the ceiling is 8 feet. My suggestion is to hang the artwork 8-10 inches above the couch regardless of the ceiling height.

Should I avoid a hot room when hanging my custom framed artwork

Art and Humidity

Reduce exposure to extreme heat or humidity. Periodically, you may notice some rippling of the paper due to atmospheric or seasonal changes. This is normal and should correct itself after humidity levels stabilize.

What is the best way to hang my custom framed artwork?

Sunlight And Art

Avoid long periods of direct exposure to sunlight, as the image may fade over time. A bright room is fine but try not to hang the artwork where the sun will fall directly on the piece.

What is an inexpensive way to change the look of a room?

Rotating your artwork

A simple way to change the decor of your home or a room is to try buying a new piece of art as the seasons change and rotate the location of some of the pieces you have in the house. You will see the work in a new way and give a room a new look without great expense or effort.

How do I hang a single piece of custom framed artwork

Hanging Individual Images

It is suggested that artworks hung alone, away from any furniture or other artworks, be hung at eye level, or centered slightly below eye level on very large works.

Should I use wire or picture hooks when hanging my framed artwork?

Using Hooks To Hang Your Artwork

We do not recommend the use of picture wire for hanging your artwork. There are several problems related to this practice. The picture tends to tilt, the picture never hangs flat to the wall and the use of picture wire creates excessive strain on the mitered corners of the moulding. Use two wall hangers for hanging your new artwork. It is suggested that you position the wall hooks at an equal distance from the ceiling in your home, unless you have a clearly angled ceiling. The use of a carpenter's level is recommended to determine that the artwork is hung level. Some people have found it helpful to have someone hold the piece against the wall for them while they decide the placement; then mark the wall with a pencil where one hook will go, or press lightly against the artwork creating a slight impression on the wall and affix the remaining hook there. Have your friend place one end of the art on the hook and hold it level while you use the actual level to determine the position. Repeat the process with pencil (or the impression) described before and place the second hook.

How do I hang more then one image in a group?

Hanging Multiple Pieces

Creation of wall groups can be a fun and interesting way to decorate a home. This can be done with pieces of all sizes and subjects. You might want to try arranging the positioning of the artworks on the floor before actually putting hooks in the wall. This allows you unlimited freedom and ease in trying out different arrangements. Feel free to mix styles. There are no rules!!
